Posted 6 years agoWhen you were at a Con the other daaaayPine Fur Con was a thing, small but very nice convention. Wish my social anxiety wasn't in overdrive, wish a bud of mine was able to go. Still, despite that, happy to get away in the long run.

Some time ago, I had vocalized some notions about 'gender issues'; seems like the journals that I posted about the subject have been deleted (damn my self), but that is the grand summary. Well, after some consideration and sessions with a gender therapist, I have reached the conclusion that I am trans. I have now been on HRT for about 7 months now, and while I struggle with a few things, I am more happier for it in the end. A few people who are close to me have known for a while, but I figured I would toss it out for today, Trans Visibility Day.
What does mean in the grand scheme of things? Eh, not a whole lot. I so go by "Seana" now, and female pronouns, of course. I'll likely keep "Decius" as my 'sona name, so no real change there. I'm still going to be the same dorky dooker.
Work has been an aggravation, and college has been as well, though I to graduate with a shiny degree come this August.
That aside, I'll post up some art I've bought in the intervening time, as well as some of my own scratchings.
I will also be at Pine Fur Con this year, and am jazzed about it, and with some footpaws to boot! So, if you're there, say hi!.

Posted 10 years agoMy second ferret, Rascal, passed away this morning.
I have no idea what happened. He was hale and energetic as always; wanted food shortly after I came home, chowed down, and then pestered me to open the cage (I wait awhile, just so I make sure he goes to the bathroom before romping about).
All was well - he roams about and plays with my cat. The usual. I was looking at a few things on the interwebs when I heard some unhappy ferret sounds. Thinking the cats were being a bit rough with him, he was under my bed, lying on his side and defecating.
Picking the poor fellow up, I realized he as alarmingly limp. I washed some of the piss off of him, and his breathing became labored. Couldn't keep his head up. Put him on my bed, wrapped in a towel, trying to keep his head propped up for better breathing. He was unbelievably limp, and I knew what had happened, but couldn't quite accept it.
After about 15 mins in that state, it was clear: Rascal had departed us. I have no idea what happened, but it was (perceptively) quick. It may have been a seizure or he had choked on something.
I'll bury him at my parent's later today, alongside Ares. What's really eerie about this is that I was over there last night, and my sister's hamster died.

Skunk Service Announcement !
Posted 10 years agoHello people I-may-or-may-not talk to! Recently, someone made a big stink about me not talking to them “enough” (and decided that I’m not their friend – their choice, really). I’m just going to address this (constructively), just in case. I'm not trying to single anyone out here - this is a general 'you', not a specific 'you'. ;3
I work 12-hour shifts (at night, Eastern TZ), and on nights that are opposite of what is usually considered normal (i.e., not Mon-Fri, nine to five). I usually get home roughly 5am Eastern, and I may stay up for an hour or so before going to bed. So yeah, a good portion of my work week is A) work and B) sleep. Even on my ‘weekends’, I tend to sleep a good deal.
In conjunction with the previous, I cannot bring my cellphone into work (nor does my phone have advanced features such as Skype, anyways. I can get on Twitter /Facebook now and then, and that’s about it.
So yeah, I’m not trying to ignore people and disappear on them. I just get caught up in things, and usually when I can chat with people, they’re quite likely asleep or indisposed. I’m not really thrilled with this arrangement, as my social life has all but died due to this job, but I need to pay the bills.
SO! If you’re feeling like I’m brushing you off, or I never write/talk…message me! Initiate something, rather than me trying to guess if you want to talk (and at odd hours in the morning or whatever). Don’t give me drama about me “hating” you. I feel bad enough about almost having zero people to hang out with IRL due to scheduling differences.
/Fin rant.

If you are sending out wedding invitations, and you're sending just one out because of two people being roommates together.... please make sure the other person knows that they are invited instead of relying on one person to make sure they're informed!!!
Seriously. Other than it occurring, and that I was 'invited' (I worked with this person, and my roommate is more friends with him than I), I barely had any information on the event.
And it so happens that the event will occur when I'm out of town. Next week.

After-effect and shockwaves
Posted 11 years agoAfter a bit of hope, I had hoped that after the seizure last week, things would hopefully be looking up. I was hoping this was some unhappy fluke of life, and that afterwards, I'd just have some hospital bills payed over a few months to look forward to.
Well, the EEG test that I had done on Tuesday yielded a few results - while the doctor didn't really give me a percentage, he said that it was quite possible that I could have another one. So, I've been diagnosed with epilepsy, and I'm to be put on medication to lessen the chances of me having another.
Yeah, it's been crushing; not so much for the diagnosis itself (which, wasn't happy news, to be sure), but the repercussions that entail. It looks like I will be moving back into my parents, which kinda screws over the roommate that won't be leaving in the near future (I guess that's dependent on a few things). I won't be able to drive for at least a year, so there's goes mobility and a degree of freedom, which compounds my not being able to live in my apartment.
The only good news that has come out of this; work will be taking me back, so I won't have to rely on disability for living. Which is good - both for me preferring to earn my income, and for not being stuck at home. I just can't do the driving portions, per the doctor.
So yeah, this has been a heavy shock for me, mentally, as much as physically. Pretty much had to happen on the coattails of me fretting of finding a roommate to replace the one that is leaving. Really feels like I lost some of what I tried to attain.
Hopefully, I can work from this to achieving something positive.

Journey into the Hospital.
Posted 11 years agoYesterday was an interesting day...if I could but remember it. Looks like I had a seizure. The last thing I remember, I was talking to my supervisor about his proposed schedule changes. According to my mom, I had put a quite a fight, and several people had to subdue me - I remember having a vague "dream" of people holding me down and me screaming against some kind of bonds. @_@
After some hefty doses of anti-seizure meds and good ol' Valium, I settled down enough. Annnnnd then I woke up in the hospital.
I seem to be doing well - the MRI didn't show anything abnormal -, so now I am waiting for my primary doctor to give a thumbs up for me to leave. I'd hate to say it, but I don't want to be out of work for too long, and I shudder to see how this visit will leave me money-wise.
I've got nothing to do but wait. Time to munch some Hospital food @_@

Posted 12 years agoWangstWith a (very) few exceptions, of course, I feel somewhat alone in this fandom. Not really sure why...
When I try to talk to someone online, it feels like I'm the only one carrying the conversation (esp in some cases, they contacted me). Do I go to fast with friending others, or do I move to slow? Honestly, I'm not sure sometimes. I don't know. I'd figure after being around the furry for 6-7 years would show a bit more.
I just kinda feel dumb about it all. My emotions feel like a see-saw regarding this.
